Examples of classes that have been offered in the past include Art, P.E., Sign Language, Physical Science, Zoology, Cooking & Nutrition, Guitar, Beginning Spanish, Manners, Knitting, SAT Prep, Drama, Writing, Constitution, Worldview, Beginning Speech, Biblical Money Management, Geography, Toastmasters, Legos, and Academic Chess. Crown offers the following options:
Membership (required for all families that join): Membership allows you and your family to participate in all the events and activities Crown offers such as; field trips, park days, beach days, bonfires, family fun days, service projects, etc. A parent from each family is required to sign up and serve in a designated service job. You will also be given access to the Crown Website to view the Calendar and enjoy the benefit of our member family Forum. All families must pay for membership.
Crown Membership + Wednesday Co-op: If you are interested in our Co-op classes, we currently meet on Wednesdays in Silverado Canyon, California. We offer many classes that range from enrichment to core academic classes for ages kindergarten through high school. Our classes provide educational experiences every week to enrich and expand the learning opportunities for our home-educating families. You must have a student enrolled in Kindergarten or higher grade to participate in Co-op. This is an all volunteer, cooperative effort, and parents are required to stay and participate. Everyone is given different assignments to ensure a smooth and efficient co-op day. Families that come together and serve to educate our children together is a beautiful thing that naturally creates and builds a priceless, strongly bound community.
Crown High School: Crown Homeschool Community will have dedicated high school (drop off) classes on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning fall of 2024. This is a co-op and parents will need to help on campus. The school year for high school will begin August 26th and end May 12th. We will have a variety of classes on Mondays and Tuesdays and you are welcome to join one or both days. **If you are a charter school family, charter funds cannot be used to cover fees as we are a Christian organization.** Vendors will accept monthly payments. We’ll also have teen-only events throughout the year. If you join, your family membership fee will give you access to all events and you can choose to join our high school only days or additionally join our Wednesday all-age co-op day.
What is a Co-op Day?
Co-op on Wednesdays: Co-op means “Cooperative”, where parents and students stay on campus and participate together. For Co-op classes, you must have a child enrolled in Kindergarten or older class. Co-op is made up of volunteer parents, and we strive to keep our costs low by having our classes taught by members of our group (mothers, fathers, and even grandparents!) who bless our children by using their gifts from God. Parents are assigned duties during the hours their children are in classes, as well as set-up, clean-up, or lunch duty. These parent assignments provide the much-needed support for the Co-op and teachers. We consider being involved in Co-op a wonderful way to meet other homeschooling parents while your children are making friends with other homeschooling children! Please note that, except for high school students, this is NOT a drop-off but a Cooperative; a parent must stay on-site while their children are attending Co-op.
